The Oxbow & District Recreation Board is looking for a Kitchen Manager and Facility Cleaner.
Job Posting: Facility Cleaner (Independent Contractor)
Term: October 15, 2025 – March 30, 2026
Compensation: $1,800/month + GST
The Oxbow & District Recreation Board is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Facility Cleaner to keep our recreation facility clean, safe, and welcoming.
Contract Status
This position is an independent contract with the Oxbow & District Recreation Board Inc. The contractor is responsible for self-registering and self-remitting all Federal and Provincial taxes, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep and mop floors, stairwells, and walkways on a regular schedule.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms and showers daily (toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, dispensers).
- Maintain lobby and common areas: sweep/mop floors, wash walls, clean plexiglass, wipe tables/chairs/seating.
- Empty garbage and maintain air fresheners daily.
- Regularly sanitize high-touch areas (door handles, railings).
- Clean/disinfect bleachers, dressing rooms, player boxes, and showers as required.
Work Schedule
- No set hours: work may be completed at flexible times, but it is understood that cleaning for the curling rink/arena must be completed before the next scheduled activity.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Dependable and safety-minded.
Supplies and equipment will be provided. Contractor is expected to monitor rink schedules and ensure cleaning is complete before activities.
Job Posting: Oxbow Arena Kitchen Manager (Independent Contractor)
Term: October 15, 2025 – March 30, 2026
Compensation: $1,000/month + GST
The Oxbow & District Recreation Board is seeking a dependable and organized Kitchen Manager to oversee the operation of the Arena Kitchen for the 2025–2026 season.
Contract Status
This position is an independent contract with the Oxbow & District Recreation Board Inc. The contractor is responsible for self-registering and self-remitting all Federal and Provincial taxes, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Order food supplies and manage all kitchen services for arena events.
- Maintain and update a set menu with prices, in coordination with the Oxbow Rink Committee.
- Ensure kitchen cleaning and sanitizing meet or exceed food safe handling requirements and regulations.
- Staff the kitchen with the necessary volunteers to ensure smooth operation.
- Provide professional customer service and represent the Recreation Board in a respectful manner.
- The Kitchen Manager Contractor is responsible for managing all cash and Moneris transactions generated from the kitchen.
Hours of Operation
- The kitchen must be open at least one hour prior to and for the full duration of skating and curling events.
- Contractor is expected to monitor schedules via Oxbow Minor Hockey or the Recreation Calendar.
Accountability
- Reports to the Rink Committee and Recreation Manager regarding performance.
- The Rink Facility Manager will obtain and post the Public Health license for operation.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen operations.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage volunteers.
