TOWN OF OXBOW – SUMMER JOBS– SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKERS

The Town of Oxbow is currently accepting applications for three Summer Jobs – Maintenance Workers to commence in early May 2025 until to end of August 2025.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and be results oriented while carrying out the work as a member of the Public Works team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General maintenance of municipal parks, green space, buildings, streets, signage and sidewalks
  • Greenspace maintenance throughout town limits – approaches, around culverts, light posts,signage, etc.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment including, but not limited to, power mowers, weedwhackers, etc.
  • Follow direction and carry out duties as delegated by the Public Works Supervisor
  • Any other duties assigned by the Public Works Supervisor

Preference will be given to applicants that possess the following:

  • Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and highly professional with superior judgment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, as well as part of a teamenvironment. Demonstrate cooperative attitude with management, staff, partners and residents
  • Knowledge and understanding of Workers’ Compensation practices/protocols, Workers’Compensation Act and OH&S Regulations and other
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

This position mostly works outdoors and in various weather conditions and requires the employee to wear CSA Approved footwear and appropriate clothing at all times.

SEASONAL SUMMER PARK OPERATOR

The Oxbow and District Recreation Board is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Park Operation position, available from May 5 - August 29, 2025

Candidates are expected to maintain Bow Valley Park’s high standards to ensure quality customer service and safety are always provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day trail maintenance, including mowing, trimming, trail upkeep, signs, and refuge. Day-to-day grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, tree trimming, campsite upkeep, dragging baseball diamond infields, and watering trees and flowers.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of all park buildings and facilities, including signs, campsites, and amenities.
  • Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling
  • Collection of camping fees, check in campers on letscamp.ca
  • Aiding in the development and/or delivery of various programs such as formal education initiatives, recreational activity instruction, informal talks, guided hikes and tours, other forms of information delivery, and public safety messaging, depending on your strengths.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Recreation Manager.

Preference will be given to applicants that possess the following:

  • Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and highly professional with superior judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, as well as part of a team environment. Demonstrate a cooperative attitude with management, staff, partners, and residents.
