2018 Water Rates

By-Law 1065, approved on June 11, 2015 authorized a 150% yearly increase to water & sewer rates over a five-year period. In 2015, the rate increases were justified to recover deficiencies in annual revenues to meet expenditures and to allow for funding of specified utility reserves. However, 2017 rates are causing hardships for some user groups, especially beyond the minimum rate category which most families fall into.

Bylaw 1110, approved November 23, 2017: Water rates now have an additional consumption category in the 6001-30000 gL range per quarterly billing. Adding this section will more fairly distribute the "over minimum" rates per 1000 gL. Users that exceed the consumption minimum are projected to see a $50 to $450 decrease in their quarterly billing depending on the level of consumption. These rates are applicable to all classes of user; residential, multi-unit residential, commercial, and industrial.  See here for details.

The Town will be conducting a full review of water and sewer rates in 2018 and submitting a rate application to the Saskatchewan Municipal Board - Local Government Committee prior to March 31, 2018.
